First off, welcome. Second of all, it's not an ugly contest. I just want to tell everyone they are welcome no matter how average, ordinary or old or young they are. No one is going to kick you out for being too handsome or too ugly. I just want to transend that. Is the opposite of 'hottie' 'coldie'?
All people are special. I know many tribes are so looks oriented, we hesistate to join, to comment, and heaven forbid to post photos. You are not your looks. Let's work on developing character, talents, trustworthyness, peace of mind, and all those other things now that we know how to curl our hair and make our teeth white. The fashion show is over. Let's just be us.

Obsessive about make-up

I was eating at McDonald's and next to me was a table with 3 hispanic women in their 30's and a little boy, maybe 8 years old.
The women spent at least 20 minutes putting on mascara, seperating each eyelash, putting on pale lipstick, applying black lip liner etc. All the while the boy was restless and fidgeting. I know he wanted to go play on the playground outside, but they were too busy getting their make-up just right.
Does anyone but me find that odd? In the amount of time they wasted looking just right, I had written 3 pages in my journal.
Also, a food eating area is not really appropriate for applying make-up any more than you'd shave at the lunch counter.

looks vs doing

When you are in the entertainment field there is just no getting around looks. Do you remember the blond elf from Lord of the Rings (Galadriel)? The actress who played her was also in the Aviator and got nominated for an Oscar. She said she is tired of walking down the run way and hearing reporters ask the male actors next to her all about their upcoming projects, yet when they get to her they ask "Who are you wearing". I understand her frustration. It's nice to be beautiful, but its what we do that should matter.

I hope everyone is having a productive spring. My roses have more blooms than I've ever seen on them at one time. They sure liked our unusual amount of rain. I planted sunflower seeds and they were already sprouting 3 days later. Some of my gourd seeds have started to sprout. I plan to run them up the sunflower stalks.
I'm also working on gourd craft. I'm making a piggy bank out of a gourd. I got to learn how to use a power drill with a hole cutter on it to cut holes for the legs.
I'm doing peyote beadwork around my eye glass straps. Peyote stitch is very time consuming, and tries my patience. If I can to an inch a day, I'm pretty proud of myself.
I live in Anaheim. If anyone wants to get together for crafts and tea send me a message.
I've also working on writing articles for some online markets that pay for freelance work. If you are also a writer send me an instant message for the sources.
My daughter has just been accepted for a trip to Italy with her college art buddies. She is over the top with excitement.
Her successes inspire me to hang in there, even if the economy is bucking me at every turn. Never give up, full speed ahead. Yada yada. Anyway, that's all the news that's fit to print from Anaheim today.

hi i'm new here, i just thought the name of the tribe alone was awesome. i was having this conversation with my mother last month, she said i was nuts,. i have a great book for you, it's called invisible monsters. written by the same guy who wrote fight club but i can't remember his name and i loned my copy out.
